Pollution Rising, Chinese Fear for Soil and Food

This is a fascinating article about China. Why the interest in China? For some many reasons but here are the most important in my opinion. First is that the Chinese hold so much U.S. debt that if they ever decided to pull that money out and put into something else it could destroy our country. Second, they are clearly our rival now, and we are unquestionably in a race for resources with them. For everything, fuel, technology, education, and quality of life to name a few. What you can see very clearly about this race, is that the U.S. followed some basic rules of decency during their pursuits while the Chinese did not. All the years of corruption and blindly pushing forward with economic projects and ignoring the environment have finally caught up with them to some extent. This is truly hard to believe, but they have a place as large as the state of Maryland that is so polluted that it cannot be used for anything. If that shocks you, it may further shock you to know that 1/6 of all of their land (nearly 50 million acres) is polluted. The air in some cities there is literally 30 to 40 times above levels considered safe for humans. They are training their pilots to be able to fly in zero visibility since they know the issue with smog is here to stay. It is truly frightening and it will be interesting to see how they deal with it. Can you imagine what would happen if they told their people just how dire the situation is there? Too dangerous for leadership, it will never happen.
