Orin Rosenfeld Restaurant Review |
They really worked on the interior here to make it look very rustic and farm like. I admit that they achieved this goal, and you sort of get the feeling that you are eating in a barn. While I am not sure this is what dinners are seeking, it was not unpleasant. The menu was sort of confusing. I had a lot of questions, and my good natured waitress answered them all expertly. In the end, I settled on the soup of the day, split pea, and some snapper blackened. The soup was good, had some interesting flavors and was not too thick or thin. Yet it felt as if it was missing something (salt?). The snapper was good but offended a serious personal opinion I have about fish – it should never be served with the skin on it. If you are planning on serving it this was it should be detailed on the menu so you know before ordering it. Once the skin was removed, it was pretty good and went well with the fresh steamed broccoli and squash. The deserts are not anything to talk about. It seems the emphasis on healthy fare has removed all the fun and creativity from this area. I remember wanting to go down this route but was unable due to the offerings. The wines by the glass were good, but nothing exciting. I think that sums up the entire experience here, good but not exciting in any way. I hope this place does well, and it means well but I cannot guaranty that I will be back.
